About the Author
Donna Hammaker, a health law attorney and founding director of NIH-CML, holds a faculty appointment at Immaculata University where she teaches graduate health care ethics and health law. She earned graduate degrees from Temple University School of Law and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and completed graduate studies at the Hebrew University Faculty of Law and the London School of Economics. Before entering academia full-time, Hammaker was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Hammaker was also president and chief executive officer of Collegiate Health Care Corp., the nation's first inter-university managed care organization. She has served on the adjunct faculty and taught graduate health care ethics and health law at Alvernia College, Pennsylvania State University, Rutgers University, Saint Joseph University, and Widener University.
