This book changed my life! If you want success-you need this book!

This book changed my life! I would definitely recommend it to anyone going through doubt, uncertainty, or insecurity about God's plan for their life-especially as it pertains to success.
Oftentimes, we have the tendency to compare our success to the success of our co-workers, family, and friends. As Dr. Shane Wall teaches in this book, the secret to attaining the success that God has for our lives is not to rely on our own understanding, but God's.
When I read this book, I was going through extreme uncertainty about my job situation. I was unemployed and had been looking for almost half a year at that point! God had already told me I was going to get a job, but I still felt so down about the whole situation that I couldn't focus on God. This book changed those negative emotions!
After reading it, I finally understood-my success is not measured by my own understanding, but God's!
We may think that the topic "understanding" is too vague but it's not.
If you can think back to anything you've ever gotten frustrated, worried, or discouraged about, it's because you didn't understand what was going on. You were relying on your own understanding, instead of God's. This book teaches us how to stray away from those moments so that we can get and keep the understanding and success that God has for us.

Genuine Godly Inspiration

Pastor Shane Wall is the real deal. His book is deep and insightful, obviously the result of much prayer and spiritual perception—as well as an intense study of the Bible.
Understanding is a wellspring of life to those who have it... Proverbs. And Dr. Wall wants readers to find out how to access this precious gift of the spirit.
In a well-thought-out address to those just starting on a path of seeking as well as those who have steeped themselves in scripture, the pastor gives personal stories and anecdotes to show how understanding is the key to following God’s plan for our lives.
Not only can all of us begin to apply to our lives right now what Pastor Wall has been inspired to share, we can also take up his insights to come closer to God.
I enjoyed reading about the pastor’s early life and his own struggles to find his right place in the world, as well his stories of others in their trials. The book isn’t hard to read, nor preachy, nor dull. It’s both illuminating and an enjoyable read.
I actually have started to read the book for the second time as I know I will come across some gems I’ll want to ponder further. I recommend the book for all those interested in true spirituality.

Wonderfully Written Reflection on Understanding

Dr. Shane Wall’s book “Understanding” is a wonderfully written book calling us to reflect on our understanding of God’s Word. Dr. Wall points out that as Christians we study and study the Bible, and look for meaning in the Word, but he also questions what good any amount of studying can do if, in the end, there is no understanding of what it was trying to convey?
Look at it this way, just because you are knowledgeable in the principles of finances, it doesn’t mean you will become a millionaire. But having that knowledge plus the understanding of how those principles can work together to make money, will get you a lot further concerning your financial goals.
Hence, in "Understanding", Dr. Wall posits that knowing the Word is not nearly effective as both knowing the Word and understanding how God intended for us to apply it to our lives. And he proposes that it is in our true understanding of any given situation in life that we can find the keys to success.
I must confess that since reading it, I have stopped to think about quite a few things and my understanding of them. And from everyday occurrences to our personal Biblical journeys, I can see the value of what Dr. Wall is challenging us to understand in this book.
I’d also like to add that Dr. Wall’s prose is direct and educational and makes for an enjoyably smooth read. In fact, if I have to complain about something, it would be that he seems to over explain at times, which makes for a bit of a lull in the reading for me and the only reason I give it 4 stars rather than 5. But even here, in his defense, I know that some writers like to write in such an explanatory style to reach and be understood by readers of all different levels.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who seeks to gain a greater understanding of life and life’s principles, especially in a Biblical and Godly sense. It is a very good read!
