About the Author
Martin S. Silberberg received his B.S. in chemistry from the City University of New York in 1966 and his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma, in 1971. �He then accepted a research position at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he studied the chemical nature of neurotransmission and Parkinson's disease. �In 1977, Dr. Silberberg joined the faculty of Simon's Rock College of Bard (Massachusetts), a liberal arts college known for its excellence in teaching small classes of highly motivated students. �As Head of the Natural Sciences Major and Director of Premedical Studies, he taught courses in general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and nonmajors chemistry. �The close student contact afforded him insights into how students learn chemistry, where they have difficulties, and what strategies can help them succeed. �In 1983, Dr. Silberberg decided to apply these insights in a broader context and established a text writing and editing company. �Before writing his own text, he worked on chemistry, biochemistry, and physics texts for several major college publishers. �He resides with his wife and child in Massachusetts. �For relaxation, he cooks, sings, and walks in the woods.

Patricia Amateis graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry Education from Concord University in West Virginia and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Virginia Tech. She has been on the faculty of the Chemistry Department at Virginia Tech for 28 years, teaching General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. For the past 13 years, she has served as Director of General Chemistry, responsible for the oversight of both the lecture and lab portions of the large General Chemistry program. She has taught thousands of students during her career and has been awarded the University Sporn Award for Introductory Teaching, the Alumni Teaching Award, and the William E. Wine Award for a history of university teaching excellence. She and her husband live in Blacksburg, Virginia and are the parents of three adult children. In her free time, she enjoys biking, hiking, competing in the occasional sprint triathlon, and playing the double second in Panjammers, Blacksburg’s steel drum band.

Much better price than getting it at the college bookstore. I did buy the book as well and didn't need it at all. Buying the 2 semester card helped to reduce the average price per class significantly.

CHECK FOR ALL PAGES IN YOUR BOOKS.

This book was listed as NEW when purchased and is missing pages 509-524 and now I can’t return it because I missed the 30 day return. Unfortunately it was not noticed right away because they had not gotten to that part of the book in class until just this week… Can’t study and now have a non-usable damaged book….

Possibly the Perfect Textbook

This book is beyond useful! I'm acing my class, and I plan on holding onto it for graduate school. There is a lot of information included in each chapter, but it isn't overwhelming. Tests for certain organisms are highlighted in their own sections. Somehow the authors managed to include nothing but helpful facts. No pointless fillers. No digging through a 50 page paragraph for one key topic. The organization is flawless.

If your professor is using a different textbook, you should consider purchasing this boo as a supplemental read.

The SAT is a very important test that is taken by millions of people worldwide. It is necessary for students to take and score high on if they want to get into a good university. Without proper preparation, it can be a stress-inducing test. However, with this study guide, I am confident that I will score high on my SAT.

This book covers everything you need to know for the SAT and has many time saving strategies. It clearly explains the work process and how to get the correct answer. It provides you with one practice test in the book. But the selling point for me was the online prep. This beautifully written book reveals how awaiting the death of a loved one can be a time during which one can be healed and liberated from the burden of harboring secrets and long standing resentments. It can be a time when epiphanies are had and a time of new beginnings. The author takes us on such a journey with William, a middle aged gay man who fears that his chances for romance have past and that excitement and passion are unattainable. As he stands the death watch he encounters others who have tried to resolve such issues in their own unique ways. The book easily sustains the reader's interest in delving into the unresolved issues of the protagonists but also adds

Impressive debut

This first novel by Graham MacFie, is by turns hilarious, informative, and ultimately moving. While by no means a "gay novel" per se,it throws a significant light on the consequences of surviving the scourge of AIDS at it's worth in the 1980's and 90's. While so doing "Blowdown" makes trenchant observations about the current state of gay life in a sometimes screamingly funny and always astute way. The major thrust of the book however is the story of the protagonist and the touching and loving relationship he has with his grandmother, who's last days precipitate the action of the novel. I highly recommend this book.
