About the Author
Eric Conrad (CISSP, GIAC GSE, GPEN, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GAWN, GSEC, Security+), is a SANS-certified instructor and President of Backshore Communications, which provides information warfare, penetration testing, incident handling, and intrusion detection consulting services. Eric started his professional career in 1991 as a UNIX systems administrator for a small oceanographic communications company. He gained information security experience in a variety of industries, including research, education, power, Internet, and healthcare, in positions ranging from systems programmer to security engineer to HIPAA security officer and ISSO. He has taught more than a thousand students in courses such as SANS Management 414: CISSP, Security 560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking, Security 504: Hacker Techniques, and Exploits and Incident Handling. Eric graduated from the SANS Technology Institute with a Master of Science degree in Information Security Engineering.

Seth Misenar (CISSP, GPEN, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GWAPT, GCWN, GSEC, MCSE, MCDBA), is a certified instructor with the SANS Institute and serves as lead consultant for Context Security, which is based in Jackson, Mississippi. His background includes security research, network and Web application penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, regulatory compliance, security architecture design, and general security consulting. Seth previously served as a physical and network security consultant for Fortune 100 companies and as the HIPAA and information security officer for a state government agency. He teaches a variety of courses for the SANS Institute, including Security Essentials, Web Application Penetration Testing, Hacker Techniques, and the CISSP course.

Seth is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Information Security Engineering from the SANS Technology Institute and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi.

Joshua Feldman (CISSP), is currently employed by SAIC, Inc. He has been involved in the Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Information Assurance Education, Training, and Awareness program since 2002, where he has contributed to a variety of DoD-wide Information Assurance and Cyber Security policies, specifically the 8500.2 and 8570 series. Joshua has taught more than a thousand DoD students through his "DoD IA Boot Camp" course. He is a subject matter expert for the Web-based DoD Information Assurance Awareness-yearly training of every DoD user is required as part of his or her security awareness curriculum. Also, he is a regular presenter and panel member at the annual Information Assurance Symposium hosted jointly by DISA and NSA. Before joining the support team at DoD/DISA, Joshua spent time as an IT security engineer at the Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security. He got his start in the IT security field with NFR Security Software, a company that manufactures Intrusion Detection Systems. There, he worked as both a trainer and an engineer, implementing IDS technologies and instructing customers how in properly configuring them.

About me: IT professional for >20 years. Took the ISC2 on-line course and used two books... This book and "CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional Study Guide" by James Stewart. Stewart's book was for the detail and the practice exams... THIS book... "Eleventh Hour CISSP: Study Guide" was for review in the week preceding the test. Unlike most CISSP books, this one is *concise* --- It won't *teach* you the material... If you're unprepared, this book won't help. Rather, it runs through the material you need to know... If you don't grasp a concept, turn to a deeper source to learn it. Still, *highly* recommended as the "finishing touch" on whatever method(s) you use to prepare.

You have to read the Shon Harris book - this will take you a long time to get through. I bought this book to read the day before the exam. It is quick and condensed and gave me an edge on the exam. Well worth the money.

I am glad I bought it and the price made it a no brainer.

Warning: You won't pass the exam by only reading this book.

Eleventh Hour CISSP is a lifesaver if self-studying for the CISSP exam. Clear, easy to comprehend sections cover all 8 security domains. I was overwhelmed by the thinker official guides. This guide alone won't ensure a passing score but is extremely helpful in explaining clearly how different technologies and topics relate to each other without the filler frequently found in larger texts.

Give yourself plenty of time, dedicate a couple hours a day for 2 months and you can have a good shot at passing. This book is great for reinforcing what you already know and is well worth the investment. For best results combine this with a comprehensive practice exam text or online resource.

Amazing amount of information and how to do's in one book.
The best book I have bought on this subject.
You have to read it carefully, and repeatedly, though,
And you have to follow the instructions faithfully.
And continue using it as you progress with your page or pages.
Nothing is easy.
I recommend this book to beginners and users.

Maybe you're not so dumb after all!

Facebook for dummies assumes you know little to nothing about the complicated online world of Facebook. I have not read from the beginning on through; rather I have jumped around in the book to solve problems and answer questions as they arise. I purchased the Kindle version which at times has been difficult to find the exact topic I needed. In retrospect, the paperback edition would have been easier to navigate. I do miss the dogeared pages and notes in the margins, Either way, the info is surprisingly easy to grasp. I give it a "like".

About the Author

Brian Austin is Professor Emeritus of Microbiology at the University of Stirling. From 1975-78 he was Research Associate at the University of Maryland, USA, and from 1978-84 was Head of Bacteriology at the Fish Diseases Laboratory in Weymouth, U.K.� He joined Heriot-Watt University as a Lecturer in Aquatic Microbiology in 1984, was promoted to Reader in 1989, and to Professor in 1992, before moving to the University of Stirling in 2009 as Director of the Institute of Aquaculture and Professor of Microbiology.� At Heriot-Watt University, he held various positions including, Head of Department, Head of School, and Dean of the University. Professor Austin gained a B.Sc. (1972) in Microbiology, a Ph.D. (1975) also in Microbiology, both from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and a D.Sc. (1992) from Heriot-Watt University.� He was elected FHEA, FRSA and Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, and until retirement was a member of the American Society of Microbiology, Society of Applied Bacteriology, Society of General Microbiology, European Association of Fish Pathologists, and was President of the Bergey’s International Society for Microbial Systematics. He has written previous books on bacterial taxonomy, marine microbiology, methods in aquatic bacteriology, methods for the microbiological examination of fish and shellfish, and pathogens in the environment.

Dawn Austin is a Research Associate at Heriot-Watt University, a position she has held since 1986.� Prior to this she was Research Assistant at the University of Maryland (1977-79), Lecturer in Microbiology, University of Surrey (1983-84), and Research Fellow of the Freshwater Biological Association, The River Laboratory, Dorset (1984-85). Dr. Austin gained a B.S. (1974) from City College, The City University, New York; an M.S. (1979) and a Ph.D. (1982) both from the University of Maryland.
