A good lawyer will make a good case based on the ...

I bought this book because I was the opposing expert witness in a construction claims suit in which Schwartzkopf was the expert for the construction company who had over billed the client hundreds of thousands of dollars and needed to justify their overcharges, which, they claimed, stemmed from owner-caused delay. I thought the book would illuminate how Mr. Schwartzkopf would calculate damages. It did not. In fact, Mr. Schwartzkopf didn't use anything in his own book to forward his own report which was at times
made up of supposition, assumptions and fabrications. Every single assertion Mr. Schwartzkopf made was rejected and the case was a 100% loss for his client. A good lawyer will make a good case based on the contract and easily available case law. You may well find this book a waste of money. After all, if Mr. Schwartzkopf couldn't use his own book to make a classic construction case, how would you?

Before I read William Schwartzkopf's book, I had no idea on how to calculate construction damages. After reading I understood how to calculate construction damages efficiently, precisely and thoroughly. Schwartzkopf is really a pioneer in the area of construction law. Excerpt:

A glass of red wine appears on the low table in front of me, next to my half drunk flute of champagne. A low voice rumbles next to my ear. “We just got in a new Syrah last week. Try it. I think you’ll like it.”

I turn in surprise to find Adam’s face close to mine. His dark hair has gotten a little long since I last saw him, curling more than it does when it’s shorter. I like it. I want to touch it, run my hands through it. There’s no hair product there that will make me feel like I need to wash my hands afterward. Of course, I don’t. We don’t have that kind of relationship.

“Hey, Adam. Thanks.” I reach for the wine, glad to have something better to drink than the champagne. Especially since I am now faced with Adam. A strange mix of elation and dread fills me, causing my stomach to swirl and all of my saliva to dry up. He always makes me feel something. Avoiding him for almost two months hasn’t changed that at all.

He takes the seat next to me, lounging back in the comfortable chair, his golden eyes studying me as I take a sip. He quirks a brow at me. “What do you think?”

“It’s really good. Thanks for getting it for me.”

He flicks a couple fingers at my champagne flute. “I saw your date got you that. While it’s good champagne, I know you prefer reds over whites.”

I nod. “I do.” There doesn’t seem to be much else to say to that, even though he seems to be fishing for something.

He glances over to where Scott is still talking and mingling. “I’m surprised you’re over here by yourself. Usually you like to mix and mingle. Tired of your boyfriend already?”

There’s a little bite to his tone that I haven’t heard from him before. “I’ve been mingling for a while already. My feet were hurting and I wanted to sit. Scott is enjoying himself and I saw no reason to drag him away.” For some reason I’ve decided not to correct his assumption that Scott is more to me than a date for tonight.

Adam raises his eyebrows. “He looks like he takes longer to get ready than my sister. And she’s a beauty queen.”

I look at Scott’s profile where he’s standing in animated conversation. “He is very well groomed.” I turn my gaze back to Adam. “I hadn’t pegged you as the type to get jealous over another man’s looks.”

He laughs, but it sounds ugly and forced. Not the carefree, flirtatious laugh I’m used to from him. “I wouldn’t say I was jealous of his looks, Amy.”

I set the wine glass back on the table, not enjoying this exchange at all now. “Is there something you wanted, Adam? Or did you just come over to criticize my date?”

He studies my face. “Date? Not boyfriend?”

“I’m not sure why it matters.” I stand and pick up the champagne flute. “You’ve been more than clear that you have no interest in either position.”

Elegant, intelligent, sexy romance.

I loved Rebound Therapy, which dealt with the issues of grief and recovery, but was also a sweet and sexy romance. It's standalone and so is this book, but you really should check out both of them because they are lovely romance reads.

This book picks up after Rebound Therapy, with Amy, Jenna's best friend. She's a smart English teacher who can't understand why Adam, the gorgeous, charismatic friend of Brian (Jenna's friend) flirted with her for months and then... stopped.

So she does what any sane person would: looks for someone else, and Jenna sets her up with Scott, a paleo-eating, workout-loving, no alcohol-drinking hottie. He's good for her, but not great, and there's also a big problem with him--he wants to take things slowly, which isn't working for Amy, who wants a fling.

Meanwhile, Adam's in the background, unhappy that Amy is with Scott, which is his own fault for breaking things off with Amy after a couple of dates.

But Amy has to see Adam because they are both in Jenna and Brian's wedding.

So, no spoilers, but you can figure out who Amy is supposed to be with. The question is whether she can figure it out.

Jerica's writing is lithe and elegant. Her sexy scenes are hot AF and all-in-all, her books are quite sweet. I recommend them all, but I love this one for the theme of jealousy and envy--what happens when you can't get what you want, and what do you do about it?

Smart, sexy, fun, and enjoyable, pick it up.

Beautiful, Sexy, and Bursting With Emotion

Rebound Envy takes you by the hand and whispers, “Come with me...I have a fantastic story to tell you.” Jerica MacMillan’s style is gentle and beautiful. And yet, it's bursting with emotion, and some verra, verra sexy times. The second novella in her Rebound Series, this one tells Amy’s story. It’s not necessary to read novella #1, Rebound Therapy, but do it anyway. It sets up the series, and it’s wonderful. It has a different feel to it than this one. Which is one of the things I admire about Ms. MacMillan; her writing is true to the characters in every way. I have to say, even though I loved Rebound Therapy, this one is my favorite. I couldn’t put it down. I lounged in bed savoring every bit of this totally engaging story.

Amy is the polar opposite of her best friend, Jenna. She is the extrovert to Jenna’s Ms. Prim and Proper. Jenna is merely weeks away from marrying Brian, and since Amy played matchmaker, she is thrilled her best friend has found love again. When Jenna’s fiance was killed in a tragic accident, Amy was beside her through every step of the grieving process. She encouraged Jenna to get back out there. Job done, Amy is feeling lonely, and a tad jealous. Luck has not been on her side in regard to men. She had a few dates with Adam, Brian’s friend, and wine bar business partner. She thought they had a connection. And then, Bam...Adam stopped calling. No explanation, no “It’s not you, it's me”. As far as Amy is concerned, Adam can go sit in a mud puddle and eat a toad. Up until now she's successfully avoided the wine bar. However, there's no way she can get out of this engagement party. She’s Jenna’s maid of honor. And lucky her, Adam is Brian’s best man. Awkward. Thankfully, Jenna has set her up with gorgeous co-worker Scott. The plot thickens ladies.

I love Amy! Her dry sense of humor is hilarious, she thoroughly enjoys shocking Jenna with sex talk, and she’s not afraid to speak her mind. The banter throughout this novella is great, as are the serious conversations. Which are sure to hit a nerve with everyone. We’ve all been in Amy’s situation in regard to relationships. We’ve all wanted it to “work” with someone, knowing deep down it just won’t happen. We've all let it go on too long, hoping things will change. Amy is torn between trying to make something work with Scott and listening to her heart. Her heart says Scott isn’t for her. No matter how gorgeous, or sweet, or wonderful he is. Her heart says Adam still wants her.

Thank you, Ms. MacMillan, for giving us Amy. Thank you for reminding us that we shouldn't settle just to be with someone. Rebound Envy packs a whole lot of wisdom and insight into a beautifully written, thoroughly entertaining novella. I’m looking forward to the next story in the Rebound series.

It's such a fun, loving story

Rebound Envy is a very well written book that takes you on Amy and Adam's journey and makes you part of their story. Adam flirts. Amy can't figure out why he stops. It's a back and forth between them that makes you want to help them figure it out. It's such a fun, loving story. Definietly worth a read!

The volume thus serves well as a pedagogical book for research engineers in industry and second-year graduate students in communications engineering. The production of a manageable book required that many topics be left out.

The Authoritative Text on Continuous Phase Modulation

This text deals with continuous-phase modulation from several important angles --- CPM design based on maximization of the minimum Euclidean distance and spectral bandwidth; analysis of various approaches of optimum and suboptimum CPM demodulation, etc.

About the Author
Pallavi Rastogi is assistant professor of English at Louisiana State University where she teaches courses on colonial and post-colonial literatures. Her book on Indian diaspora writing in South Africa is forthcoming from Ohio State University Press. She has also published essays in various journals and anthologies on South Asians in Britain, South Africa, and the United States. Jocelyn Fenton Stitt is assistant professor of Women s Studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her research on the connections between nineteenth-century discourses and feminist issues in the contemporary Caribbean has been published in Small Axe: A Caribbean Journal of Criticism and ARIEL. Stitt teaches courses on global feminism, the African diaspora, and feminist mothering.

Sacred and Profane Love

There is a Jean-Luc Godard segment in one of those compilation films so popular in Europe during the 1960s. Imagine a high class brothel of the future -- located, as I recall, at an airport. The client requests an assignation and draws a prostitute who all but rapes him. He tries to open a conversation with her, but she is all action and no talk. The client protests to the management and draws another one who dresses in frills like a character from Jane Austen and recites romantic poetry. You've probably already guessed what happens: This one is all talk and no action.
I yield to no one in my admiration of Balzac, whom I consider one of the greatest story-tellers of all time. It is very obvious that the character of Madame Blanche-Henriette de Mortsauf meant something special to the author in his life: Her piety and fine-tuned sensibility, however, don't come across well in our time. Women who suffer endlessly and fritter their lives away in sighs tend to give rise to a frustrated "Oh, come off it already!"
The opposite of Mme de Mortsauf is the fascinating Arabelle, Marchionesse of Dudley, who conquers the narrator, Felix de Vandenesse, and keeps him in thrall with "caresses never before enjoyed by any man." Alas, Balzac uses the multi-talented Arabelle primarily as a warning to all Frenchmen how cold-hearted the British are. We are tantalized but far from fulfilled.
Call me a dirty old man, if you will, but I would rather that Balzac and Felix spent more time with Dudley and a whole lot less with Mme de Mortsauf. As it is, the latter dies horribly of her excessive sensibility, and Felix walks away from her grave resolved to live a life of which the angelic Mme de Mortsauf would have approved.
We all know that Balzac made no such resolution in his own life. Despite his monkish pretensions, the author spent all his life pursuing women. When, after a multi-year courtship, he finally snared his Countess, he died within a year.
It sounds as if I did not like LILY OF THE VALLEY. Far from it, I liked it a great deal; but do not see it as one of the author's more successful works. And yet, even at his worst, Balzac is better than most writers at their best, as when Felix muses "I loved an angel and a demon, equally beautiful, one of them adorned with all the virtues which hatred of our imperfections induces us to hurt; the other with all the vices which our selfishness prompts us to deify." Read it and judge for yourself.

beautiful love story

This was apparently Balzac's favourite work and I can see why. It's written as a letter from a young man to his lover who has demanded to know his past. Felix has a sad early life, rejected by his mother (a theme Balzac refers to in 'a woman of thirty'). But he then meets the beautiful Mme de Mortsauf and the developing love between them- maternal at first, later passionate, yet at her insistence always chaste- forms the main part of the book. The description of the Mortsauf family with the irascible, almost insane husband, who makes his wife's life so hard, and the two fragile children, and of the Touraine countryside are exquisite. The years of unfulfilled love roll by and Felix falls prey to a sensuous Englishwoman,causing much torment to his true love. 'Lady Arabelle was the mistress of the flesh; Mme de Mortsauf was the wife of the spirit'. It's a beautiful book and finishes with a short response from Felix's lover to his revelations...Balzac at his best.

If you do not know how to use Python, ...

If you do not know how to use Python, Javascript or C# to write in OOP style, this book will get you start. You can not expect to become an expert in Python, Javascript or C# after reading this book. However, this book will give you the basic knowledge and let you have solid understand on these 3 programming languages. Each chapter will incorporate these three programming languages so readers can either read through the whole chapter or only focus on the language that they want to know and be familiar with.

A bit dry, but does a nice job explaining basic theoretical concepts. What really sets the book apart is that every concept is broken down and demonstrated in 3 different languages (C#, Python, and JavaScript). I've read similar books and tutorials before, but seeing each idea in action, and using slightly different paradigms by language, makes this a valuable pickup.

The book came in very handy since I am using all the three tools in my professional development. The author chose the right languages to perform the comparision of the object oriented features since each of them has implemented in a slightly different way.
The examples could have been slightly better but was easy to follow.

Great book

Another winner! I'm surprised at some of the reviews; honestly I thought this was one of the best in the saga. It's good and bad, action and intensity, and as with Cold Hearted Son of a Witch it takes what was before and expands even further. We get to see the full extent of the powers the Dragoneers possess, and new, wildly unexpected characters are introduced. It's an amazing, incredible world of fantasy and imagination, of dragons and magic and passion and betrayal, and of dangers the Dragoneers are only beginning to become aware of. Fascinating read and if you're just now finding the series be sure to pick up the ones that come before for a greater understanding of this complex, fantastic world.

Excellent!

I loved this book, It is Short, But Lacking absolutely nothing! It is well written, the plot is taken to the next level in the best way possible, and it leaves you craving more! i think the Dragoneer saga in a necessity for every library!!!!

Short but strong addition to the Dragoneer Saga!

I will start this off by stating that I loved the book. However, I felt it was lacking in length for I did complete it in two days.

With that said, from start to finish M.R. Mathias delivered some none stop action. I was compelled to continue reading the book even when I knew I should give my eyes a rest. There were a few surprises, and some of them nearly made me fall out of my seat. *not going to spoil it*

I am thoroughly impressed by M.R. Mathias' writing abilities. I will gladly buy another title by him any day of the week.
If you have read the previous books in this series and also enjoyed those, please take the time and buy this one I am sure you will love it.
