A good suspensful book with well researhed Hawaiin history

The ancient Hawaiian culture has always held an air of mystique. The language, not readily understandable by the rest of the world, even has a touch of the unknown. Couple these with a warm tropical paradise and you have the perfect setting for suspense.When Kate McKenna, the daughter of a native Hawaiian mother, visits the island of Maui in search of her heritage, a chance meeting with a mysterious stranger piques her curiosity. The stranger, Dan Kala, is disconcerted with the near-identical resemblance of Kate to a long-dead Princess of Hawaiian Royalty.Beginning with a missing roll of film, unexplainable events begin to occur which seem to have roots in a curse out of the past. When Kate begins to doubt her own sanity she wonders if Dan holds the answers, or is he on a search for his own reasons? TAKE MY BREATH AWAY is a good, suspenseful read that kept me turning the pages.

Excellent book. One of many of Meg's treasures!

This book is interesting and spellbinding. Meg's other books that I love are her Jesse James series and my favorite thriller is "The Keeper". If you like suspence and mystery, you have to read these books. When you read, you are there, you can understand the characters and are rapt to see what happens to them throughout the story. Jesse James of the series is a unique character and as the books evolve so does she. She ages and grows. The only thing wanting about these books is that it takes too long before a new one comes out!
Do yourselves a favor and get into a Meg O'Brien book, you'll be glad you did.

What a fun read!

Take My Breath Away is the fifth Meg O'Brien book I've read and the author continues to amaze me. Her writing is both intelligently crafted and full of suspense. I loved the way she weaved historical fact throughout a modern plot. The heroine is brave, but in a vulnerable sort of way, making me want to cheer her on every step of the way.

A unique and moving work

Fiona Tinker's book Pagan Portals: Pathworking Through Poetry is one of the most unique works I've read in quite awhile. As someone who reads a great number of Pagans books on a constant basis, I found it very refreshing to read something like this - something that has truly not been done before.

Tinker's book focuses on the work of three poets who found their home in the British Isles: MacLeod, Yeats, and O'Sullivan - all early contemporary Pagans of centuries past who found their place in the world through their moving spiritual poetry. Tinker guides us through some of their poems that we can use as a guide for deeper connection via the tool of pathworking - the ability to traverse the inner realms.

Through this book, I found myself intrigued by classical poetry in ways I never have before. The ways in which Tinker weaves the work into the goal of deeper self-knowledge and spiritual revelation is revolutionary. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to ignite the flames of the poet within. This is a book for all those who wish to look to the great creative works of the past in the hope for greater connection to the present self.

Poetry Between the Worlds

An excellent and practical guide to Celtic pathwork, ie meditation and interaction with the Fey. Yeats is one of my favorite poets. Use of his poems in this volume is a big plus for me. I have always believed that we are meant to speak directly with the spirits. Fiona Tinker does too. She blends literature and spirituality as they are meant to be. I highly recommend this book and will use it in my classes.

I'm glad I was able to buy a used copy because ...

the content of the book is required for dental school. I'm glad I was able to buy a used copy because it was much more expensive at the school bookstore. The writing is obviously more scientific, as it is a textbook, but the messages are mostly conveyed in a clear, concise manner. This is one of the books I'll be keeping to look back over even after I graduate from dental school because I think the material is valuable and will still apply.

A history of the ministry of Victory Outreach, this book focuses on the beginning of the church and its founder, Sonny Arguinzoni, Sr. It shows how Pastor Sonny overcame heroine addiction and was raised up to lead the hurting and lost from their affliction and toward Jesus Christ, portraying the struggles he and his wife went through during the first few years.
This book is a must for anyone who is or wants to be involved in a ministry that focuses on drug addicts gang members.
The title of this books comes from a promise given to Sonny when he first started in his ministry, found in Isaiah 45:1,2.
Aside from a few grammatical and typographical errors, this book is awesome. I couldn't put it down until I was finished.

OMG! SERIOUSLY! If you are taking a class that requires this book DROP THE CLASS. I AM NOT KIDDING. In all my years in University classes, this was the worst book I have EVER been subjected to. Trust me. I wish I had trusted the other reviews.

This book was terrible. I purchased it as a required text for a graduate class and found it nearly impossible to get through it. Every line was a quote or a quote of a quote with little or no original information or explanation by the author. Every sentence referred to other citations. If you're going to write a text.....how about inserting your expertise!

Simplicity At Its Best

What Mr Tape (aka Richard Wychoff) writes is a simple way of looking at the market. He tape reads the market, looking at the size of transactions, and the number of transactions within spaces of time to determine turning points in the market place. Some writers may lead you to believe that Mr Wychoff was a chartist but in this work, and his others you truly see the difference between chart reading, and tape reading. If you want a book that explains the lost art of tape reading here it is. And for heavens sake, understand that tape reading and chart reading are totally different in terms of time, and real time analysis.

Will help you understand volume

This is an excellent book about tape reading. You have to study this book to get the most of it. Track what the author says on a chart and on a bid/ask quote screen. He discusses valuable things about volume and its nature. The author wrote this book when prices weren't changing 100 times per second like they are now. If you take a moment and contemplate what he's saying you will begin to see the same relationships today. You can't see it now because things are moving so fast and that's why reading a book from 1910 can help you see things better today.

Good material poor publishing

Let me start by saying that since the material in this book was published in 1910, it is public domain and can be legally obtained for free (search for Day traders bible). I purchased this book because I wanted a hard copy of the material. I was a bit disappointed to find that this book is just the scanned in pages of the original articles(including some coffee stains). I expected that my $20 would at least warrant someone retying the articles.
That being said, the material in this book is top notch. Wyckoff was a pioneer and a genius. Every trader can benefit from reading his works.

The analysis includes 17 comic strips from the comic Mafalda, approached from two different perspectives: (1) from the perspective of general theories related to humour and (2) in relation to the type of compensation applied in the translation of the comic strips into English. The study will follow the taxonomy of compensation techniques established by Hervey, Higgins and Haywood (1995), who identify four types of compensation including (1) in kind, (2) in place, (3) by merging and (4) by splitting. The study shows that the use of the technique of compensation is crucial in the translation of the selected comic strips.

Have a previous edition of this book.

I took architectural drafting in college some 19 years ago and this was the book used for the classes. I purchased this edition hoping to get a book more current on subject matter. I was disappointed to find the same drawings used to illustrate drafting concepts in both books. I would have thought the authors would have used more complex designs to demonstrate different drafting methods. For example, there are no illustration of monolithic slab foundations in the book. Conventional foundation with basement is the preferred methods discussed in the book. (And this hasn't changed in 20 years.)

Don't read this as a reason not to purchase to book. I've referred back to this book many times over the years when I've had architectural drafting projects. It's still a great reference. I just wish the example floor plans were more current with the preferred designs of today and there were more varied examples discussed.

Awesome book for my degree!

This is a very good and useful book for my degree. It helps out those Architecture students who are just starting out in the Architecture major. Great book to get and start off with.

Design concepts & terminology bargain

I purchased a "like new" copy of this book for cheap. I've been volunteering for Habitat, and this text introduces the terminology that describes many of the new (to me) architectural concepts that I've confronted in our new construction, and illustrates alternative designs that may be used in more formidable projects. This book predates the newer 10th edition (revised for ADA), which is required material at our community college for an architecture course. I'm an experienced 2D CAD draftsman, and the numerous elaborate drawings in the book are of huge benefit. This text represents a wealth of knowledge for a residential neo-builder like me. An absolute bargain in the used book marketplace.
